It sure is hot, here in our neck of the woods.  It feels warmer today than any day we had in summer.  Most unusual for this time of the year.

It was a busy day in the kitchen.  I know this doesn’t look like much, but it was a whole lot of tomatoes and other veggies (onions, peppers, celery, garlic)  earlier today.

I asked my gardener hubby to dig some potatoes, so we could have potato salad for supper tonight, seeing as it’s such a hot day.  I asked for about eight.  This is some of what he brought me:

So I only needed two to fill the pot!

Hope it’s been a lovely day in your backyard, too!!

We had some unexpected visitors in our backyard today.  As far as I can remember, I’ve never seen cedar waxwings in this area. We always  get lots of the bohemian waxwings, who love to eat the mountain ash berries, but I was thrilled to see the cedars today.  They were splashing in the puddles left on the lawn by the sprinker, and seemed to be so happy to have some water.  They are such social birdies, it was party time by the pool!  It made my day to see these beautiful birds with their exquisite markings.  (My apologies for the less than stellar photo, I didn’t want to scare them off by being to intrusive.)

Nope, it’s moon over Spruce Grove…..not quite the same thing! The moon was full last week.  I chuckled when I realized I’d managed to get our fluorescent street sign in the picture, too.  Lots of sky pictures to see here at SKYWATCH.

Here are a couple of shots of sunrise I took the other morning.  There was quite a cover of clouds, with just a small band of color peeking through.  Notice the saskatoon bushes in the foreground, how nicely their buds are coming along.  (Apologies to my neighbor to the east, I seem to get his backyard in my pictures quite often!)  Click here for a tour of skies around the world.

I love the way the setting sun is throwing color onto these clouds in the south sky. Visit SKYWATCH for more sky photos.

My spring harbingers have finally made their appearance:  tulips and the beginnings of a Ruby Stella daylilly.   It’s cause for celebration!

He is risen, indeed!  The cross is empty, the tomb is empty, “why seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, but has risen”.  It’s a great day today, as Christians believers everywhere celebrate the glorious miracle of a Risen Savior!  He was dead, but behold is alive forevermore.  BLessings to you on this day and  grace and peace to you, from God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing.

What images get conjured up in your mind’s eye, when you think of April ?  I think of pussy willows with their red bark and silky, soft catkins;   I think of rubber boots and squishy, wet socks;  I think of birthday candles, cake and presents (for me and my older sister);  I think of red-breasted robins; I think of the promise of green leaves,  green grass and red tulips.  And today I’m especially thinking of gorgeous blue skies!  Happy April and happy skywatching!

Nice, clear blue sky, it could be the middle of summer!  But look again, it’s not….
